With its bustling cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, as well as scenic destinations such as Mount Fuji and the historic town of Kyoto, there are abundant work opportunities for taxi drivers across the country.

Random and Exciting Fact: Japanese taxi drivers often provide a unique and memorable experience by offering their passengers oshibori, a hot or cold towel, to refresh themselves during the journey. This traditional Japanese hospitality gesture adds a touch of luxury and comfort to the taxi ride.

The main duties of a taxi driver in Japan include picking up passengers, driving them to their desired destinations, and ensuring a safe and efficient journey. They must have excellent knowledge of local streets, traffic patterns, and popular landmarks. Good customer service skills are essential for providing a pleasant experience for passengers.

Key skills and experience required for a taxi driver in Japan include a valid drivers license, knowledge of local geography, and good communication skills. Proficiency in Japanese is necessary for effective communication with passengers. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and mobile apps for ride-hailing services is also advantageous.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a gig and a job? arrow-right
A gig is a pre-defined task (or set of tasks) that has a specific expected outcome. On the gig exchange, it is FREE to list a gig under the services section. Services are fixed price or negotiable. Workers are selected based on services, availability, reputation & price. The money is withheld independently through our leading global Payment provider Stripe escrow account. Payment is only released upon satisfactory completion. Feedback is given by both parties to build marketplace reputation. A job is an advertisement listing the general requirements and services expected of a worker. Job advertisements are for permanent or contract based work (hourly rate). On the gig exchange, the job advertisements are FREE and listed under the Jobs section.
I can’t get hold of the gig lister or worker after the gig has started? arrow-right
If after repeated attempts to communicate with the gig lister or gig worker via the chat portal, please get in touch with us. We need to see attempts on the chat portal to act on this.
What happens if gigexchange receives a dispute from a credit card company? arrow-right
The gigexchange will get in touch (usually by email) to discuss the disputed payment. It may be that the dispute is the result of a misunderstanding. If that is the case, it is important to contact your card issuer and tell them that you are no longer disputing the transaction. gigexchange will follow its internal dispute process and liaise with Stripe until resolution.
Can I report offensive or harassing behaviour? arrow-right
Yes, we take very seriously any behaviour that is threatening, violent, aggressive or harassing. We recommend all communication is through our chat portal, so we have an audit of this. Please contact us through our contact page.
How do I build my brand? arrow-right
Ensure your profile is fully up to date, representing yourself and your skills as honestly as possible. For any gigs won, conduct yourself with grace. Treat the customer with respect. Keep the customer updated on progress of the gig. Ensure you keep evidence of your work. Complete the gig to a high level, within the agreed timeframes. This will ensure your ratings and reviews are exemplary. This will ensure your brand is in demand for future gigs you are interested in.
